The TRUE COST
The TRUE cost of BUYING a puppy is often cruelty...
Puppy mills are massive breeding factories everywhere that churn out those cute little puppies you see in the puppy store windows, on flashy websites on the Internet promoting "Family Raised puppies" and even in your local newspaper ads from irresponsible "Backyard Breeders"  Pet lovers are often mislead by dogs that come with "Papers" and "Health guarantees" but most of the time all you and your family get is alot of empty promises. These puppies often become sick, end up with costly health issues, or even die shortly after purchase. Life can be even worse for the "Breeding stock" or the mothers and fathers of those cute little puppies you are considering purchasing...these dogs live their entire life in wire mesh cages full of dogs, in the cold and heat, with little to no human contact or socialization, and substandard or no vet care at all until their fertility wanes and they are destroyed...Their only hope lies in the outcry of every animal lover like you and me who care about animals, and the puppy buying public.
Please NEVER buy a puppy from a puppy store, internet website, classified ad, or breeder unless you can meet the parents of the puppy and see firsthand where the puppy was raised

This is Donner, an 8 yr old male Bichon
I fostered/rehabilitated, he was rescued in Dec 2008 by Small Paws Rescue, he was found living in a muddy pigsty in Mississippi with his brother Blitzen
After 8 months in foster with me he was adopted into a wonderful family and adjusted well to his new "normal" life for 14 months but unfortunatly in Dec of 2010 he slipped out of his collar and ran from his owners and as of March 2011 hes still missing
Donner just after rescue in 2008
